If you love Italian breads in this video I’m going to introduce you to the best and easiest Focaccia recipe. All you need is some basic ingredients already available in your kitchen. Hope you enjoy the recipe!!
Ingredients:
– 250ml Water
– 250gm + 60gm Flour of your choice (preferably ’00’ flour)
– 7gm Dry Yeast
– 7gm Honey
– 8gm Salt
– Extra virgin Olive oil
– Toppings (Optional)
Instructions:
1. In a medium-sized bowl, add 1 cup water then add dry yeast plus honey and mix it well.
2. Add 1 cup flour to the mixture and mix well until all the ingredients are fully incorporated. The mixture will be quite wet and sticky.
3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel and let it sit at room temperature for 1hour then keep refrigerated for about 12 to 16 hours. During this time, the poolish will ferment and develop flavor. You can keep it prepared in bulk and use for Focaccias or Pizzas in future.
4. After the fermentation period, the poolish should be bubbly and have a slightly sour aroma. It is now ready to be used in focaccia bread recipe.
5. Take out the Poolish 1 hour before you start making the focaccia and leave at room temperature.
6. Measure out 60gm flour and incorporate it into your dough mixture slowly.
7. Leave the dough for another 2 hours for final proofing at room temperature.
8. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
9. Grease a baking tin with olive oil and transfer the risen dough onto the prepared baking tin.
10. Gently press and stretch the dough to fill the baking tin evenly. If desired, use your fingertips to create dimples on the surface of the dough.
11. Drizzle a generous amount of olive oil over the surface of the dough, making sure it reaches the edges and the dimples. Sprinkle coarse sea salt and fresh rosemary (if using) over the top. Add any other desired toppings.
12. Place the baking tin in the preheated oven and bake for about 20 to 25 minutes or until the focaccia is golden brown and crisp on top.
13. Remove the focaccia from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Enjoy your freshly baked focaccia as an appetizer, side dish, or as a base for sandwiches. It’s best enjoyed warm and dipped in some extra virgin olive oil or served alongside your favorite dips!
