My father was Italian and we often had Italian Amaretti Cookies around the holidays. They are a delicious cookie made with almonds and go perfectly with a nice hot cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa. They are easy to make and this traditional vintage recipe only requires 5 ingredients. They are gluten free and grain free. You can also add some Christmas sprinkles to the tops of the cookies before baking them to add some festive color.

Hi Grandma! I would like these I think. My father was Italian and on Christmas eve his mother ( my grandmother ) would make pizzelle cookies and she sent them down and during dinner my dad would pass them around the table. As a child I did not care for them but now I appreciate them when I can find them. I did not find them or my ribbon candy this year. Grandpa thatโs very sporting of you to dress up! Nice job ! Brian

I'm italian. My mother and grandmother use to make the italian anise cookies with the anise frosting colored green and red with colored sugar on them. They were delicious and festive. The amaretti cookies look scrumptious. Unfortunately I am allergic to almonds and can't eat them but sure wish I could. Merry Christmas Grandma and Grandpa Feral.

Grandma Feral, This looks like one I will make. I need some almond extract and then I can make this recipe after Christmas (it is late Christmas Eve right now)! I made the traditional ginger cookie recipe you posted and it is great! I made that last week and gave some as a present to my nephew.
