Italy is a country where pasta plays a great role when it comes to food. For example Mugnaia – It is a typical dish from Elice, a commune in Abruzzo region of Italy. They have a ftival specifically celebrated and named after this pasta and it is called, La Sagra Della Mugnaia. Recently they have celebrated this ftival and I got a chance to visit this awesome town and witnessed a variety of shows and enjoyed eating pasta. I would love to post some pictures I ve clicked but lets coentrate in the qution first. If you want to know about my experience and see some pics from my trip , please let me know. I will be happy to write about it. After living for so many years here I can assure you guys that pasta and pizza are not the only things we eat. Although pasta and pizza are one of the major dishes of Italy, there are a lot of other dishes Italians eat in their day to day life. Lets not forget that Italy has a different food culture from region to region. I will try to add a few dishes from the Abruzzo region as I live here in Pescara. 1. Arrosticini I have decided to write about this delicious dish first as this is not only the most favourite dish of the Abruzzese but also they are proud of it. At least this is what I believe and I bet many Abruzzese will agree with me at this point. Lets watch this hilarious video just to have an idea how important it is for an Abruzzese. https // youtubem/watch?vEVS0aCWiKiE Basically, it is a skewed lamb meat cooked on a specifically designed brazier which is commonly known as fornacella in the local dialect. Here is a picture from our backyard. 2. Fish dinner Pescara is a beach city and so the city is blessed with fresh seafood. It is very common to go to eat fish and they have special fish rtaurants. Here is a picture of me eating fish. Cozze is my favourite. One delicious dish is cozze e ceci . It is a simple soup with cozze mussels and ceci chickpeas. 3. Porchetta Proununced as Pork etta Porchetta is another typical dish from Abruzzo. But there is also another version of Ariccia a town near to Rome. Porchetta is a roasted pork with spices and usually, people eat with bread like a sandwich. P.S. I have a deliciously long and interting list of dishes that I am going to upload very soon hopefully tonight. Right now my husband is waiting for me to leave as we are going to cook arrosticini in our Loreto firmhouse. I will share some pics from today in my future edite. HAPPY EATING. As promised here I am back with my frirst edit. 4. Risotto Oh! how incomplete the list will be without this plate. A creamy rice dish cooked in brodo broth and often combiled with wine, butter, parmesan cheese etc depending on the type of risotto. Risotto is a first dish commonly known as primo piatto in Italian. The broth of the risotto is derived from meat, fish or vegetables . I often cook risotto as I love eating rice but unfortunately, I dont have a picture of my own cooking so I am adding one from Google. 5. Polpetta Another incredible dish ususally based on meat, fish or vegetable mixed with aromatic italian spice and kneaded with flour and egg. downloaded from google Small balls rolled/ processed with hands and coooked in sugo Tomato sauce , in oven or fried. It is usually served as a seco.nd dish and finally here is a picture of me taking lessions on polpette from my MIL. 6. Pallotte cacio e uova It is similar to polpetta but this is based on cheese instead of meat or fish. I still did not take lessions on this one but here is a picture. 7. Sottaceti and sottolio Italians eat a lot of vegetables. The preparation is simply boiled, grilled, steamed, fried etc like the rt of the world but these are a different yet very simple way that is very common in Italy. Basically, it is chopped vegetables preserved with Aceto or olio. If it is Sottaceto that means it is preserved under Aceto or vinegar and sottolio means it is preserved under oil. Aceto Vinegar Olio Oil here is a picture from our kitchen Italian people eat a lot of cheese and salcicce as well. Ofcourse, the list will never end and I can co.ntinue adding million dishes. I am going to write and upload picture of few more dishes once I finish my lessons.
