The beautiful Rome, as seen by the food. This isn’t so much as a food tour as it is a compilation of my favorite spots as I toured through the Eternal City. Many of these fine dining establishments are in the Spagna district of Rome, as we stayed up by Piazza del Popolo, but the tour also brings us to Felice, an off-the-beaten-path very nice ristorante where we got what I may say was our best meal in Rome. It was recommended by a friend who lives there local.

Pizza. Don’t know how much pizza I ate while I was in Rome, but you’ll get a good idea when you follow along in this video. The first night in Rome? Pizza (and lasagna). The second day in Rome? Pizza. Lunch? Pizza. Dinner? Pizza. Breakfast? Leftover pizza. Haha, you’ll see plenty of it in this video, along with fresh fish, baked goods, meat, cheese, and everything else that is perfect about the food in Rome.

Some of the restaurants in Rome we visited, including some great street food:

Canova – (funny enough, I saw this place on an episode of ‘Friends’ while I was watching the series for the first time during Covid lockdowns. VFC was like “Been there, done that.” Ah yeah.

Antica Osteria Croce – a very nice family run restaurant in the Spagna district. Food was excellent, service even better and they even accommodated VFC stopping in for a late-night glass of wine while they closed up.

Ristorante Angelino ai Fiori – enjoyed my birthday lunch/dinner here, just down the road from the Colosseum of Rome. Exquisite outdoor dining and the food was very, very fantastic! You can also hear much of the street entertainment from here, where the street performers perform by the Roman Forum.

Grano Frutta e Farina Bakery – Best pizza. Also near the Spagna district, the pizza pies are oven-cooked in a sheet, then cut with scissors when you tell them how much you want. The crisp on the bottom, the taste – absolutely loved this place. Could eat every meal here every day. Ah yeah.

Acquasalata Fish & Lounge – Just down the road from the Grano Frutta, you can enjoy a full meal here – or a pizza. I did both, but mostly I would stop by for a glass of wine at night after walking miles touring the beautiful and historic city during the day.

Taverna del Corso – An excellent little tavern on the Via del Corso. Pizza (of course) and other Italian food delicacies. I tried the lasagna and a beer.

Tonnarello – in the quaint little area of Trastavere, this place was awesome. The food was delicious, pasta served in little pans, I loved it. Stacks of mozzarella in the caprese salad, calamari was great – but the pasta. Ah yeah. Trastavere is a hip area of Rome, definitely take a walk through and eat there, but I’m not sure I would stay. Not necessarily within walking distance of everything, stay in the main areas of Rome and Uber or taxi over to Trastavere.

Da Felice e testaccio – Recommended by a friend living and working local, this was an awesome fine dining experience. The food was so, so good. Cooked to perfection. The wine recommendation was excellent. Best meal in Rome, for us. At the time this place had plans to open a restaurant in New York City, as well, but I wonder if Covid put a stop – or pause – on those plans.

Enjoy! Ah yeah.
