Lasagna Stuffed Shells (my recipe):
1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 pound ground mild italian sausage
Italian seasonings
Ricotta cheese
Pasta sauce
Giant/jumbo pasta shells
1/2 stick butter
Minced Garlic
Heavy whipping cream
1 cup mozzerella
Salt & pepper
Brown up ½ pound of ground beef and a ½ pound of Italian sausage and added some Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and salt and pepper.
I mixed the meat with some ricotta cheese and pasta sauce – and then stuffed the noodles with it! 😊
For the sauce on top you could really simplify it by adding some canned pasta sauce, but I made a tomato cream sauce (which was literally heavenly).
For the tomato cream sauce I made an alfredo base.
I melted ½ stick of butter in a pan ( I just used the same pan as the sausage – I tried to get as much grease out as possible but a little left in the pan adds some flavor anyway!) and then I added 2tbs. of garlic (I love garlic – you can add less if you’re not a fan). After the garlic was browned I poured in about a pint and a ½ (I’m sorry I really didn’t measure anything) of heavy whipping cream. Once that started to thicken and simmer I added in (about) a cup of mozzarella. Then some salt and pepper. Next, I poured in a little bit of pasta sauce – just until the white alfredo sauce turned light orange. And of course a little more salt and pepper. RIDICULOUSLY good !
I poured the sauce all over the stuffed shells and added some shredded mozzarella and baked it in a 375 degree oven for about 15 minutes – or until browned to your liking.
