Italian Tiramisu – RECIPE

Prep Time: 35 mins
Cook Time: 0 mins
Complexity: Easy

Ingredients (6 people):

200 gr Savoiardi (lady fingers)
200 gr coffee
100 gr white sugar
500 gr Mascarpone cheese
4 fresh eggs
cocoa powder

Procedure:

1) First thing first: separate egg whites and egg yolks. Place them in different bowls;
2) Start with the egg yolks: add half of the sugar and whisk (using an electric beater) until the mix is soft and creamy.
3) Slowly add the mascarpone and mix with the beater at every step. The mascarpone cheese should be all incorporated within 10 minutes or so;
4) Wash and dry the beaters WELL, then move to the egg whites and whisk until they become a soft foam – this should take 5 minutes or so;
5) Now, GENTLY scoop the egg whites foam one spoon at a time and mix it with the cream of egg yolks and mascarpone. Make sure you mix the 2 with slow movements from bottom to top. Your cream will be ready in a few minutes!
6) We now need to assemble the Tiramisu: layer a bit of cream at the bottom of a rectangular tray;
7) Dip each Savoiardo (Italian lady fingers) for 2 seconds in the coffee – this will create the bottom layer of our Tiramisu;
8) After you lined your Savoiardi up, go wild with the cream on top! Sprinkle a bit of cocoa powder as well;
9) It’s time for the second layer of Savoiardi now. This time, dip each of the Savoiardo biscuits for 3 seconds in the coffee.
10) Cover with cream and sprinkle more cocoa powder.
11) You should leave the tiramisu to rest in the fridge for A MINIMUM of 2 hours, preferably longer… Perhaps overnight!
12) ENJOY!

ITALIAN FOOD BOSS SPECIAL TIP: I like to add some cocoa powder between the 2 layers for extra tastiness!
