Hi everyone! Today I’m going to show you how to cook bell peppers the Italian way. We call them “peperoni in padella” which literally means “bell peppers in the pan”.
Here you have the list of the ingredients:
-3 bell peppers (better if in different coulors)
-150 g of olive oil
– 5 cloves of garlic
– a slice of fresh chili
– 80 g of pitted black olives
– 25 g of capers in brine
– 150 ml of tomato passata
– 150 ml of water
– a pinch of salt
Preparation:
chop your garlic and your chili. Chop your olives and your capers too.
Clean your bell peppers from all the white parts and the seeds, then slice them as thick as your finger. Mix your tomato passata with your water.
Turn the heat on a high level and put the pan on the stove, add the oil and the garlic, then after 1 minute ad your bell peppers, mix well and cover, let it cook for 5 minutes, then reduce the heat, add olives and capers and let it cook for 5 more minutes, then add your watered tomato passata and let it cook for 5 more minutes, with the lid on.
After this, let it cook with no lid on for 10 minutes, then increase the heat again and let it cook for 15 minutes (the sauce needs to get thick).
After a total of 40 minutes, switch the heat off and let it rest for 5 minutes.
Serve as a side for chicken or beef or use bread to taste them!
