Join us as we wake up in Tuscany and drive through the beautiful hills of Tuscany. Amy & I spent a wonderful afternoon touring the grounds of the Poggio Alloro Vineyard just outside of San Gimignano. We toured the livestock area and witnessed their Chianina cattle from which come the amazing Bistecca Fiorentina – found only in Tuscany. Our wonderful guide took us into the innermost sanctum of their winery and showed us the wooden barrels slowly aging their product.

After a sampling of their wares, we drive through the rolling hills to the ancient hilltown of Volterra. We climbed the seemingly interminable stairways created centuries before to gaze upon the antiquated buildings that still conduct business in modern-day Volterra.

After partaking in espresso and gelato, we drove back to San Gimignano to look up at their stunning towers created centuries before by wealthy residents to show off their affluence. After a relaxing sunset in the town square (with more gelato) we returned to the Poggio Alloro for a dinner we will always remember – prosciutto, pate, Bistecca Fiorentina, and pici until our stomachs were full.
