What makes this recipe awesome?

I’m quoting an actual Italian so it’s not offensive.
Other than that, I’d be hard pressed to find something that is as simple, cheap, quick and delicious to make.
You can have this crap at any time of the day, with or without a hangover, even serve it to some fancy duke that happened to be around for whatever reason, and the result will always be the same: pure fucking awesomeness.
All you need is bread, olive oil and whatever you want to throw on top.
Tomato, basil and garlic is the most iconic incarnation, but prosciutto, mushrooms, any cheese you can find, whatever is handy works with this platform.
