A new trattoria-style restaurant focused on ‘simple food’ will soon be coming to Chelsea.

Luca Aloisi, who will be managing the Italian eatery, told the Kensington and Chelsea Licensing Sub-Committee that the new neighbourhood dining spot would be a “very simple family restaurant”.

“Simple food, focus on family [and] neighbours. We would like to build up our regular clientele,” he said.

Mary restaurant, which will be located on Hollywood Road, was granted a licence to open from 12pm until 11pm from Sunday to Thursday, and from 12pm until 11.30pm on Friday and Saturday. Alcohol sales will also finish at the same time.

Mr Aloisi told the sub-committee that although this would be his first restaurant, he had been working in the hospitality industry for over 10 years.

The venue will be spread out over a two-floor site, with a rear garden.

Residents’ group The Bolton Association had been supporting Mr Aloisi with his application in the run-up to the Licensing Sub-Committee.

The group had withdrawn its original representation before the hearing, while two other objections to the application were also withdrawn. Three representations with concerns over the application remained at the time of the hearing.

However the licence was granted with a series of conditions to mitigate concerns raised by the public.

These include ensuring alcohol is only sold via table service and keeping the rear garden clear of customers after 9.30pm in the evening.
