BOCA RATON, Fla. (CBS12) — A longtime Palm Beach County gourmet market and Italian restaurant is expanding south with a new location planned near downtown Boca Raton.
Carmine’s Gourmet Market and Carmine’s La Trattoria will anchor Glades Station, a new mixed-use development planned for the southwest corner of Glades Road and Dixie Highway, according to developer Investments Limited.
The market and restaurant are expected to open during the first quarter of 2027.
The nearly four-acre Glades Station project will include more than 28,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and office space spread across three buildings. One building will house Carmine’s Gourmet Market, another will contain the restaurant and a third will provide office space, the developer said.
The property, which was previously used for industrial purposes, is being redeveloped as a walkable shopping and dining destination near downtown Boca Raton, Florida Atlantic University, the Brightline station and Boca Raton Airport.
Carmine’s has served South Florida since founder Carmine Giardini opened his first meat market in Pembroke Pines in 1972. He later opened the company’s flagship, 16,000-square-foot gourmet market in Palm Beach Gardens in 1988.
The Palm Beach Gardens market offers butcher meats, seafood, produce, baked goods, delicatessen items, imported cheeses, wine, specialty groceries and prepared meals. Carmine’s La Trattoria operates alongside the market and serves Italian dishes in a waterfront dining room.
The Boca Raton project will be Carmine’s second gourmet market location in Palm Beach County.

Gourmet Italian markets have become increasingly popular across Palm Beach County. Eataly recently opened an Italian marketplace at CityPlace in West Palm Beach, while Joseph’s Classic Market operates locations in Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, West Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens.
Restaurant broker Jeff Sussman, who handled the Glades Station deals, said Giardini had wanted to expand into Boca Raton for years.

Sussman described Carmine’s as the “Rolls Royce of gourmet markets,” citing its selection of high-end ingredients, according to the Investments Limited announcement.
The developer expects Carmine’s to serve as a major draw for Glades Station and generate regular customer traffic for the development’s other tenants.
Additional details about the new market and restaurant, including their exact size, hiring plans and a more specific opening date, have not yet been announced.
