Traditional Sicilian plates, since 1947. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. It’s been a while, and it didn’t disappoint.

  2. You can walk to my childhood home from there my boy, used to love getting the rice ball special, if you go down the block you can go to pizza park if you do get the marinara square pizza it’s a special one

  3. That really was some authentic food right there. Cali Kid with his bib eating like a starving toddler crack me up. Did you ever say what your fav was? Those artichokes looked awesome!

  4. My favorite Sicilian dish with meat would have to be Involtini di Manzo — thin slices of beef rolled up with breadcrumbs, garlic, parsley, pecorino cheese, and pine nuts, then slow-cooked in a rich tomato sauce.
The meat gets super tender and the filling is so flavorful. I love it served over pasta or with some crusty bread to soak up the sauce!

  5. I love agunud pig skin salt black pepper aregano pecorino Romano rolled up tied browned in oil than simmering in sauce for a couple of hours.

  6. ❤❤ hello Sir, I'm your new friend and new supporter, from the Philippines, full support here' always, Godbless 😊😊😊😅😅🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤

  7. There use to be a place on 18th Avenue called Gino focaccaria. I have memories of my grandfather taking be there as a kid for Vasteda (without the spleen for me). Those were the days my friends. Now I drive in from Connecticut to tobget panelle at Joe's every so often.

  8. Great salads, veggies, pasta for starters plus many more dinners and Italian specialties. It's my go to dinner spot every Saturday evening.

  9. I wish I was dining with you.
    LOVED ❤ everything you ate.
The mussels and the arincini balls looked 👌 😍 😋👏👏👏!
    Buon Appetito!!

  10. Back in the 1960s and 1970s there used to be booths near the big front window. I remember red booths and stainless steel, maybe not.

  11. Ferdinando's lost it's carácter when it tried to attract a monied clientele. Prior to that it was a hole in the wall with extraordinary food. It has closed. Joe's Is the last one that I know of. The menu is in Sicilian. They serve pasta with urchins. There is a new foccaceria on Third Avenue in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn I hear. Cent' Anni Joe's Foccaceria! Looking for panelle in Buenos Still looking for panelle near my new home. Buon pranzo tutti

  12. Grew up 5 blocks from Joe's my family knew the original family ownership. Give me a panelle special, a

rice ball & mixed salad then I'll take home some 🍆 dish

It's the food you have a hard time making at home

  13. Hi, Great video… I lived in New York City for 26 years, and despite everything, I miss my beloved city. With absolute respect and love for the beautiful, diverse Italian culture, for the diverse  Italian people and the diverse country of Italy, from the Black Sea country in the Caucasus, Georgia, from the equally diverse Georgian people, Georgia…🇮🇹  🇬🇪

Also, just in case, some historical details, as from historian by specialist…

One of the clients, originally from Italy, with higher education, hearing that my brother is Georgian, said about the Georgians: Ah, our cousins, and this is absolutely true, in the form of a common ethnic origin of the Georgians, Sardinians and Etruscans, also, in the form of the relevant historical times, of mixed ethno, ethnic, cultural ties between the ancestors of Georgians, Georgians and Romans, including the Eastern Romans (Romans-Byzantines), etc., which I also repeatedly mentioned, as a historian by profession, when I wrote about these historical issues…

Georgians in Georgia (Georgia is a country in the Caucasus, located in the Black Sea region of Europe) , Sardinians, Etruscans in Italy (Etruscans, who, along with others also lived on the territory of the kingdom of Kolkhida in the western part of Georgia by the Black Sea), Corsicans in Corsica, Spanish Iberians in Spain, Picts in Britain, and other European people have same ethno, ethnic origin, which is proved by history, respectively life itself, proved at the level of genetics (proved genealogically in different periods of time, including the director of the Zurich Genealogical Center R. Scholz), archeology, cultures, culture and so on., accordingly proven by life itself, and this is why all these listed peoples ( together with originality of each of these ethno, ethnic peoples) have similarities, identical in different forms of culture, in folk music, dance, in ancient architectural style, respectively similarity in appearance and so on.

    Sincerely, Alex
