Take an inside look into my experience eating VEGAN sushi! I am so excited that San Diego is bringing more plant-based dining to my neighborhood.
The Yasai NEW LOCATION: Little Italy, San Diego
2254 India Street
If you live in San Diego, I highly recommend trying it!
BEWARE: vegan restaurants have an abundance of not so healthy plant-based food (I’m talking to you fried food), it is on you to order smart. The Yasai included.
𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿:
☞ Edamame Guac
☞ Okonomiyaki
☞ Ceviche
☞ For the sushi, stay away from “tempura,” but I still recommend asking which one is not fried. Asking kindly goes a long way and the waiters are usually nice about it!

𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱? I grew up in a nutrition obsessed home, back when we had to order soy cheese and non-dairy milk on the internet. It took me awhile (and some really bad acne) to realize that this is 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗹. I learned the positive impact a healthy diet can have on a person’s life through my own journey and see that most people are interested and willing to make changes when given the right information and shown how good healthy can taste.

My recipes are all plant-based, with no oil or added salt. They are all naturally sweetened with dates and other dried fruits – this means there is no honey, syrup, fruit-juice concentrate, or any other concentrated sweetening agents in my recipes. They contain the full natural fiber and nutrients found in whole fruit, which slows absorption and supports a favorable microbiome.
