Where can you find a great old school Italian restaurant in Brooklyn? On this episode of Old School, host Danielle Caminiti takes us to Marco Polo Ristorante, a Carroll Gardens neighborhood institution since 1983. Marco Polo is famous for being a favorite of Yankees legend Joe DiMaggio, who used to dine at a large table in the center of the dining room. Today, Marco Polo exists as an underrated gem keeping the old-school tradition of table-side preparation alive. Watch as Danielle samples the pizza, cheese-wheel pasta, and tender veal meatballs at this slept-on neighborhood classic.

Thumbs up if you want to eat dinner with Danielle! 🍝
Hot cherry peppers, NOPE!!!!!
Brooklyn has to be the world leader for old school Italian dining in style. Everything looks so good. The pork chop and meatballs in particular, wow. BTW, the old Italians here in Chicago still fry the meatballs in LARD baby……nothing I've ever tasted anywhere beats them. The crust is perfect and the insode is super tender, moist, and so delicious. We go Pork, Beef, and Veal in equal parts for the best meatball here. Lots of freshly minced garlic and a great blend of seasonings. The true secret though is the # of eggs you blend into the mixture. SO good. Cheers Brooklyn!!!
