Dad’s Easy Meat Sauce Dad is one of the simplest recipes dad has. No gadgets needed here. A pan, some basic ingredients and you are on the way to an amazing classic Italian dish.

This is the quick and easy version of the recipe. If you want something with a little more explanation and tips check out this video.

Ingredients:
2 Can’s of San Marzano Peeled Tomatoes (28 oz)
1 Pound of Ground Beef/Pork Mix (can use just 80/20 Ground Beef if you don’t like pork)
1 White Onion (Diced)
6 Cloves of Garlic (Minced)
1 TBSP Garlic Powder
1 TBSP Onion Powder
1 TSP Basil
1 TSP Parsley
2 TSP Salt
1 TSP Sugar
Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1. Peel and dice the white onion.
2. Peel and mince the garlic cloves.
3. Open and empty the cans of San Marzano Tomatoes into a large bowl. Crush the tomatoes with your hands by squeezing the whole tomatoes. Make sure you submerge the tomato under all the sauce in the bowl before squeezing or it will be a huge mess.
4. Coat sided saute pan heat enough extra virgin olive oil (enough to coat the bottom of the pan) and add the onions and garlic.
5. Place the pan over medium high heat and cook the onions and garlic until the garlic starts to brown.
6. Once the garlic begins to brown add ground beef/pork mixture.
7. Add in in 1 TBSP of Garlic Powder, 1 TBSP Onion Powder, 1 TSP Basil, 1 TSP Parsley
and 1 TSP Salt.
8. Cook until the meat is browned and fully cooked. If need be you can add some extra olive oil.
9. Depending on how fatty your meat mixture was you may have to drain the fat.
10. Once the meat is cooked add in your crushed tomatoes.
11. Reduce the heat to Medium Low Stir and simmer the sauce for 10-15 minutes.
12. After the sauce has simmered taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning to your likening. Dad added 1 TSP of salt and 1 tsp if sugar.
13. Serve over pasta or use in a dish like Dad’s Lasagna Recipe.
