Did you know that in 1957 the British thought that spaghetti grew from trees? 0n April 1, 1957, the BBC broadcast a 3-minute short broadcast,
showing a Swiss family harvesting spaghetti from a tree in their yard. The broadcast was narrated seriously by a BBC presenter, and because spaghetti was not yet common in England at that time,
after the broadcast, people immediately called the BBC to ask how they could get spaghetti seeds,
and the BBC answered humorously, placing a strand of spaghetti in a can of tomato sauce and hoping for the best.
After that, and seeing the release date of the BBC’s spaghetti broadcast, people finally realized that it was just a prank from the BBC.
