In this video, we explore the *incredible pizza scene of Naples* — the birthplace of pizza. We try several different baked and fried pizzas, taste other local specialties along the way, and at the end of the video I rank all the places we visited!

*Pizzeria Hermanos*
The young guns of Naples’ pizza scene. They’ve only been around for a few years, but their pizzas are already top level. A nice, clean and cozy restaurant, constantly dishing out takeaway orders while also serving incredible pizzas to their guests. We start our pizza journey here — and it was a great surprise!
*La Vera Pizza Fritta da Gennaro – Pizzeria Arenaccia*
Next, we go for classic Neapolitan pizza fritta. Freshly fried and stuffed with cheese, pancetta, tomato sauce and basil — crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and absolutely delicious. If you want authentic fried pizza in Naples, this is the right place.
*Capriccio*
The next day starts with a typical Neapolitan breakfast at this small local café and bakery. We enjoy savory pastries as well as a classic Italian cornetto. The shop is filled with traditional desserts, making it the perfect morning stop before more pizza adventures.
*Antica Trattoria del Nilo – Spaccanapoli*
For lunch, we head into the heart of Spaccanapoli to enjoy traditional Neapolitan pasta dishes. We try Ziti alla Genovese and Pasta e Patate — true local staples — served in a charming side alley in one of Naples’ most atmospheric neighborhoods.
*Antica Pizza Fritta da Zia Esterina Sorbillo*
Street food pizza time! Located on Via Toledo, this famous spot serves pizza fritta in the heart of the city. But is this location just for tourists, or does it live up to the hype? We put it to the test.
*L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele*
In the evening, we visit one of the most famous pizzerias in the world. One of the oldest in Naples, it became globally famous after appearing in a Julia Roberts film. They still make very traditional Neapolitan pizza, prices are surprisingly low, and we find out if this legendary spot still serves truly great pizza.
*Oliva*
We finish our Naples pizza tour with a visit to pizzeria Oliva, recommended by local Neapolitans. To experience a truly locally preferred pizza, this is the place. They serve both baked and fried pizza — but you’ll have to watch the video to find out our full impressions and final ranking!

  1. I like my pizza well done. These wood burning ovens, the pizza'a are soggy most of the time. That's why gas ovens are the best. I worked in Italian restaurants as a cook back in the 70's and 80's, and gas ovens for pizza were the best for pizza making, And to this day, gas ovens are still the best. That being said, another great video Alex.
