What does it actually mean for a cuisine to be recognized by UNESCO?
After living in Piemonte for 13 years and spending a decade as a chef in anItalian kitchen, I’ve learned that “Italian Cuisine” is much more than just a set of recipes. It’s a complex cultural system where wine, history, and the land are all inseparable.
On December 10th, 2025, Italian cuisine made history as the first to receive UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage status. In this video, I’m breaking down the three pillars that define this heritage.
At Vero, we believe wine is cuisine. It’s an artisan product with just as much heritage as the food on your plate. Join me as we explore the soul of the Italian table.

About Vero:
Did you know that less than 1% of wines make it to US retailers’ shelves? At Vero, which means “real” in Italian, we are constantly looking for small production, sustainably made, authentic wines from farmer-artisans not yet present in the US market. Our mission is to create a community of wine and food lovers, small producers and businesses where passion is the common denominator.
