24H Of Italian Food in PALERMO, Sicily | Local Markets & Insane Street Food

We are in Palermo, Italy, exploring Sicily’s legendary street food scene through local markets and iconic food spots, and tasting some of the most traditional Sicilian dishes along the way.

*Mercato del Capo*
We start our food tour at Mercato del Capo, a small but very traditional market packed with fresh produce and authentic local street food. From caponata to seafood, there’s something happening at every stall. Freshly squeezed orange or pomegranate juice is a must here, and we also try a classic Cannolo Siciliano, crisp, creamy, and full of flavor.
*Mercato Ballarò*
After that, we head to the much larger and livelier Mercato Ballarò. This market is bursting with local produce, fresh greens, strawberries, and citrus fruits, alongside traditional butcher shops and street food vendors. Here we try ricotta sandwiches and one of Palermo’s staples, panino panelle e crocchè. You’ll also find stigghiola (grilled intestines on skewers), arancini, and many other classic street foods throughout the market.
*Nino u Ballerino*
We then visit the iconic Nino u Ballerino, one of Palermo’s most famous street food spots. Known for its vibrant owner and legendary sandwiches, this place is all about pani ca meusa (milza). Every movement is made with surgical precision, ending in a mouth-watering sandwich that perfectly represents Palermo street food at its best.
*Grano Granis*
We finish our Palermo food tour at Grano Granis, a restaurant specializing in pasta while also offering many of Palermo’s most important traditional dishes. We enjoy Pasta alla Norma along with other delicious local specialties, a perfect way to end an unforgettable food journey through the city.

  1. Palermo is an absolutely brilliant place for a weekend break. There's nowhere else quite like it. Nice video.

  2. I love Italy, my parents are from the south, Reggio Calabria and I’ve been there as a child. Never been to Palermo but it’s on my list. Are you Italian? Your accent is wonderful

I've never been to Sicily unfortunately and, despite knowing very well how much I'm regretting it, your wonderful video makes me regret it even more. Sooner or later I'll visit this gorgeous region.
