Today we’re making authentic Italian Bocconotti cookies—a traditional treat from Calabria and Abruzzo. These bite-sized pastries are filled with a rich chocolate and almond mixture, and they’re perfect for holidays or family gatherings. Let’s get started!

Ingredients:
Pastry Dough
• 1 & 1/2 cups pastry flour
• 1/3 cup sugar
• 1 egg
• 2 egg yolks
• 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
• Zest of 1 lemon
•1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
Chocolate Almond Filling
• 1 cup roasted almonds, crushed into tiny pieces
• 1/4 cup granulated sugar
• 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
• 2 ounces (60 g) dark chocolate, coarsely chopped
• 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 2 egg whites
• 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
You will need small mini tart molds (tinned steel) about 1½ inches wide.
Optional: Powdered or icing sugar for dusting.
