  1. I watch a lot of cooking videos, and this was probably the best video of this type (quick & cheap pantry meals) that I’ve seen. Subscribed. Looking forward to going through your library, and your future videos.

  2. May I ask why your voice is always so shaky? I just worry about a medical condition of some sort. I get like that when my sugar is low.

  3. My mom taught me this trick years ago, and I love it! I like stocking our camper with meals like this. And to all of those that keep saying Rebecca of DTD “invented” this idea (😂) it’s been around since the late 80’s! Lol Very sweet of Julia to credit her, though 😊

  4. Love this!!! Would be a good idea to put these in a bag with the printed recipe and give them to people in need! Would love more of these for sure! You're the best Julia ❤

  5. Add chicken or spam to the stir fry. I made one with mixed veg, precooked jasmine rice (shelf stable), spam and pineapple. Will have to try the stir fry veg in a can.

  6. Thank you so much. I think this will be our family Christmas project. Making dinner bags to donate to our local college food pantry. Many students go hungry and these would all be easy to make and donate.

  7. I would love to see more bagged pantry dinners like these! I volunteer at a monthly food drive at my town's church and these are great ideas for someone like me to make bagged meals and donate to people in need. I'm wondering can these meals be frozen when there happens to be leftovers?

  8. Awesome vid!!!! Send out to food pantries
So they can hand these out and pair donations so that u can actually feed a family

  9. as someone else who was on food stamps (SNAP) i was hellaciously lucky… we owned a lot of "kitchen infrastructure" from before things went downhill, and we already knew how to cook rice and beans from dry (not just canned) i honestly am not sure how well we would have managed otherwise.

after that my husband stopped any complaints about my pantry- preparedness stuff.

  10. a "purely pantry" recipe book would be awesome, as would a series on you tube. make it clear that "you can use frozen or fresh veggies" or what have you… but it would be a blessing to have. yesterday i found out some frieds needed food, and… well i have plenty, but i found out my pantry wasnt really set up to quickly put together a care package…

  11. I also love that most of these look so simple and one pot level easy! They pretty much all have some protein and veggie in them too. Great ideas

  12. These are great, I know they’re pantry meals, but it’d be so easy to add in some frozen veggies. Could you use dehydrated veggies rather than canned? I’m not keen on canned veggies like the green beans.

  13. You’re smart and resourceful. I spend an inordinate amount of money on food and I landed on your videos and I’m taking a lesson. I have so many canned ingredients and never know what to do with them. My family and I don’t eat meat or dairy (only fish) and we only eat organic which makes things challenging sometimes for saving money. But I believe we can still save money and love your channel.

  14. Ty, ty, TY!! Another gal I also love has them for emergency meal kits, too. It could be anything: can't get to the store, low on $$, illness, a different person than usual needs to cook, etc, etc. Another thing is, helps us save $$$ because I can't tell you how many times I've gone to the store grabbed a can of this a box of that a few more cans of something else I get home and I swear to you I can't figure out what's even there to make something with.
Yes please on the let's do more of these!!! Absolutely! I always send ppl here to your channel.

  15. Just received your new cookbook! I purchased one for each of my college-aged kiddos. I had to sneak a peek, and am truly excited about the variety and simplicity of the recipes you included. Well done!

  16. Hi Julia. You just gave me an idea for something I’ve been struggling with. Some days I have very low energy & just can’t think. It’s part of my disability. Being on a limit low budget means I don’t eat out. So often if I can’t think of anything to eat or it’s too overwhelming I’ll just not eat or eat junk which doesn’t set me up for feeling much better the next day. Having a few bags premade with easy recipes to have in my pantry for those inevitable low energy days. I can make them up on days I’m feeling more energetic.

I’d enjoy seeing more completely shelf stable meal ideas. Those that rely on rice or don’t include pasta would be great as eating gluten makes my illness worse. I have gluten free pasta alternatives but they are more expensive.

Looking forward to getting your new cookbook. I bought your last one and gave it to my mom because she is having memory issues and I thought the recipes would be useful for her & her care worker to make together. Apparently she gave it to her care worker & then that person left the company. So I’m hoping you have some special on ordering both of your cookbooks together. I appreciate what you do. Thank you.

  17. Hi Julia! I made the creamy tomato bacon pasta tonight and it was so good! My husband made chicken to serve with it and now we have many servings of delcious leftovers for the week. Thank you again for such great recipes! ❤

  18. Julia, I just LOVE your humble and bubbly sweet personality. And, of course, all of your content. But I follow you for you. Thank you for all that you do❤

  19. Julia, these look delicious and give me great ideas for meals on a budget! I take care of 2 family members and I try to keep meal time as creative as possible. Thank you for all you do ❤

  20. So refreshing to see meals that are truly easy to make and love the idea of it all being in a bag for gifting or to use in your own pantry as well!

  21. im so mad my husband hates soupy meals so i can't cook these for him, i love them tho

  22. So many cooking videos cook very expensive food, or require all kinds of extras that most of us do not keep in the house. Julia, you cook for regular families. I love how you remember where you came from and how many people are having a hard time cooking nutritious and delicious food on a budget. ❤

  23. Thank you for another awesome video! I’d love a dinner in a bag series.😊 I hope you and your family have a nice holiday season!
