In order to be sushi rice, you must season the rice with rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Its not just plain japanese rice.

you shouldn't be spreading the rice to all the edges – you're supposed to leave it off on the upper portion so it doesn't form a "snail tail" of rice, like yours did. it is considered unattractive and incorrect by authentic maki sushi chefs, as it makes the roll far too rice-heavy.
you also shouldn't need to use salt if your rice is already seasoned with salt, sugar and rice vinegar, as it should be to make it sushi rice.
I am a vegan and I regularly make sushi and onigirazu at home, this just isn't it… you need to try again
