  1. Aperol Spritz

    2 oz Aperol
    3 oz prosecco
    Splash of soda
    Half orange wheel for garnish

Add Aperol and prosecco to a wine glass.
Then add ice and top with soda.
Garnish with a half orange wheel, and enjoy!

  2. Aperol feels like a real marketing revival success story. In the UK, I feel like no-one had heard of it even 7 or so years ago, and it’s now absolutely everywhere. A great summer drink, but dependant on the quality of the Prosecco I think. Using a bad cheap wine here gets you a bad cocktail.

The original Venetian Spritz with Select Aperitivo is a more bitter version of the same drink. Less of a crowd pleaser but very tasty.

  3. Fun fact; add the aperol last for a stunning sunrise-esque effect. But yeah agree the "3-2-1" rule is the absolute best and that's a fact.

    3 oz prosecco
    2 oz Aperol
    1 oz soda

  4. My only complaint with all prosecco / champagne drinks is that you can't store it. Like once the bottle's opened, you need enough people to finish it (or you need to be REALLY happy or REALLY sad to finish a bottle by yourself). It's prevented me from having an Aperol Spritz way too many times.

But I love all Aperol drinks. It's a more pleasing aperitif than Campari, and all Aperol drinks have such a nice colour!

  5. It would be really interesting to see a longer episode on less artificial alternatives to these neon colored apertifs. Also vegan alternatives (aperal and compari are colored with bugs last i checked) .

  6. It may be lowbrow, but I keep a couple of 250 ml cans of Target's Wine Cube sparking wine in the refrigerator (along with the 7.5 oz cans of tonic, ginger beer, etc.) in case somebody wants an Aperol Spritz.

  7. If you want to pimp this: make an aperol infusion with straw- or raspberries (highly recommend raspberries). And either use red or rosé sparkling wine instead. Thank me later.

  8. I LOVE the Aperol Spritz and in the summer I always have a lot of Aperol and delicious Prosecco on hand!! Fabulous spritz and it's not summer without an Aperol Spritz. I love a thickly sliced orange wedge put in my spritz!!! Yummm!!!

  9. 1990 I was in Venice, when at Camping DEI Fiori the Barkeeper invented tha Aperol Sprits.
One year later I witnessed Michael Jordan winning his first Titel, and in 1999/2000 I was winning my first German national Basketball Championship.

  10. Would you be interested in trying a drink that I recently invented?

I call it the Tequila Midnight. In a shaker put 5 blackberries, one lime worth of lime juice and put the rinds in the shaker. Add a pinch of granulated sugar and muddle till all juice and oils are extracted. Add about 1/2 an ounce of organic agave nectar and 2 ounces of reposado tequila. (I prefer Hornitos from Mexico, but you can use whatever.) Fill the shaker with ice and shake firmly for 15-20 seconds. Make sure to double strain over a highball glass filled to the top with ice. Fill half way to the top with Topo-Chico and top off with grapefruit flavored Fresca. Stir well for about 6 seconds, garnish with a single blackberry and enjoy. It's extremely refreshing and very pretty to look at. The perfect drink for the summer.

  11. I was in Venice for a few days this summer and had at least 1 spritz daily. I tell you, even better is the Cynar spritz. Not as sweet as Aperol and more tasty!

  12. I like to switch out the Aperol for Campari and add in a little angostura with it too. Delicious either way but the Campari lowers the sweetness of the drink in a way I think benefits it.

  13. I'm a little lost – did you make a short of a cocktail that used Irish whiskey, cold brew, and orgeat? Or was it all in my head. I swear there was one.

  14. I usually put about .25 of lemon juice in mine at my bar. It really brings out the citrus from the aperol while cutting its bitterness just a tad. Amazing little addition

  15. I finally tried yesterday! The only thing is I prefer Sprite when the recipe calls for seltzer

  16. Went to Europe last year for the first time.
Had it in Amsterdam, way too bitter.
Had it in Venice from a random drink stand, and it was so good. Def recommend the drink if made right.

  17. Is putting Prosecco before ice a common practice? I get that it fizzes less this way, but then you'd have to measure it
