Domino’s Pizza once tried to take on Italy, the country that invented pizza. They planned to open 880 stores but only reached 29 before going bankrupt. When local Italian pizzerias joined delivery apps during COVID, Domino’s lost its edge and shut down all its restaurants. Even global giants can’t out-pizza the Italians.

What do you mean "even in the birthplace of pizza nobody could beat the locals", chains like this absolutely demolish locals across the world. If anything this is the exception.
Which by the way, does not make sense to me. I have tried dominos 3 times at 3 different locations because I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, and it doesnt even compete with cheap frozen pizza imo.
Why would they do something as gloriously stupid as opening pizza restaurants in a place with its own very well established pizza restaurants and a population that loves its pizza a certain way. Just why!?

Of course I prefer Domino's. Why eating the real thing if I can find an americanized version of the dish? 😅

Was this before or after they changed the taste of their pizza? At one point eating the cardboard box had more flavour than the pizza crust you’d scrape off the toppings from the cardboard boxes and it would taste better.
That’s because Italians KNOW a proper pizza when they see it. Not manufactured American style garbage that isn’t even considered an authentic pizza. What a stupid move by Dominoes to begin with. 🤣🤣
