In this video, I pair and taste fine wine with junk food and fast food to find out if it actually works.

  1. Instead of the Kentucky Fried Cruelty I think falafel would work quite well.
Loaded nacho’s with pinot blanc from the Alsace might work.

  2. there is only one 'chips' that I (sometimes) like, and that is Tyrell's slow cooked sea salted chips/crisps. I am very opposed to 'normal' chips like 'croky' or other mainstream chips. Tastes like salted cardbord to me. hah ! I like this video ^_^

  3. I just finished eating and am stuffed, but watching you eat this pizza is making me want to eat again. 😛
It's funny, because 'table wine' generally isn't considered a compliment, but I actually think I tend to prefer simpler wines with food often, as wines which tell you a story can sometimes speak louder than the food and are often best drank on their own.

Two of my favorite pairings at the moment are cheaper white burgundy/Rhone and scrambled eggs, and that same wine with peas and carrots. Somehow it creates new sweet nectar flavors in both the food and the wine! I'm a wine noob though, so I'm sure I'll find plenty more pairings which blow my mind. 🙂

  4. Dry vermouth wines and Jelly Belly candy reporting in. Enjoying a Muscat-Grenache blend with bacon wrapped Jalapeno poppers for lunch today. Not exactly "junk" food I guess.

  5. What a fun video! A wine newbie friend will occasionally come over to try 3 wines. He supplies pizza and I supply the wine – with no thought towards the pairing. Looks like I'll need to include a Rosso di Montalcino next time! 🍷

  6. What a joy it was watching you enjoy that pizza! Why not Chianti Classico with pizza? That would have been my natural "go-to." Loved the video!

  7. I agree that potato chips and Champagne are great but I was recently blown away by extra crunchy kettle cooked potato chips and a savory Garnacha – Syrah blend with some green tomato vine notes (2022 Venus La Universal Dido Montsant Tinto).

  8. Awesome video once again. I was pretty surprised with the fried chicken pairing haha, now I definitely have to try this. The only couple of minor complaints I have are the pizza and potato chip pairing. That pizza looked way too fancy and delicious to be considered fast food haha. Should have tried Pizza Hut or Domino's. Would have also loved to see you pair a wine with one of the world's most popular chips: Doritos 😆. Anyway fun video. You're the best Agnese!

  9. Hey! Loved this concept — pairing fine wine with junk food is pure genius 🍗🍷
But what about doing it the other way around next time? 😄
Like fine dining dishes with budget wines — or even supermarket wines! Would be super fun to see how they hold up. 🛒✨

  10. I'm from the northeastern United States originally and have lived in the south for decades. Every time I go north to visit my sister we have pizza and champagne night, as the pizza in New Jersey is far superior to the pizza down here, and we have discovered that champagne is the perfect accompaniment. The bubbles and the acidity cut the grease perfectly; it's quite refreshing. We normally drink good champagne but nothing really special…except once. I had gotten two bottles of 1990 Cristal on release, and one was opened at a special function and found to have turned completely. It was poured out. We assumed the other bottle would be likewise undrinkable, so we just opened it with the pizza some weeks later on my next visit. It was perfect. We had pizza and 1990 Cristal. I have never felt so "Baller" in my life, and I doubt I ever will again.

  11. Malcolm Forbes was the creator and publisher of Forbes magazine. He lived flamboyantly. His corporate jet was a Boeing 727 named "Capitalist Tool," which was emblazoned on its sides. He had one of the world's largest collections of Fabergé eggs, he had a hot air balloon in the shape of his French château, he gave Liz Taylor a purple Harley Davidson as a present, and he liked Château Margaux with McDonald Big Macs. Why not?

  12. Sveiki, Agnese! I remember reading a story about the late, great Leonard Cohen pairing top red Bordeaux (especially Latour) with things like boxed mac n'cheese. If he could do such a thing, maybe we can, too. Not to mention that iconic picture of Julio Iglesias on his private jet enjoying a Spanish potato tortilla, a bucket of the finest KFC offers and a 1982 Lafite-Rotschild 🙃

I often find myself pairing good wine with potato chips and a warm cheese and ham sandwich, with a little butter. From champagne to Barbaresco to Austrian Riesling, it's always a pleasure.

I had half a bottle of a Vino Nobile di Montepulciano on the fridge and after watching your video last night I decided to pair it with something unusual: KFC chicken nuggets, sour cream and caviar – something that was being sold at this year's US Open for $100 a portion! It wasn't a marriage made in heaven as your Vin Jaune pairing was but it was an interesting experiment.

  13. I do have Brunello with pizza. Also Nebbiolo from Langhe (but not Barolo). Also, the Chateau Montelena Zinfandel works well with pizza, as does some of the less pricey Mollydooker Shiraz.

  14. As many have already said in the comments below, what a great video! You found a very unique and still interesting topic for a wine pairing. Your presence in front of the camera gets better all the time, however in this video you seemed especially comfortable and it was very well done! Excellent presentation. Congratulations! 🍷🥂🍾
Love the thumbnail, by the way 🥳

  15. Fun video, but if I am going to open a $50+ bottle for myself, I want to at least take 20 minutes and prepare a meal or dish for it, and often cooking an elaborate meal for family is an excuse to open a nice bottle.

  16. Durian (fruit) ruins wine for 24 hours. Particularly (it pains me to relate) white Burgundy. Business dinner in Singapore, I had no control over the menu or the choice of wine. I don’t mind durian, and I certainly don’t mind a glass of wine; but some things (in this case ethanol and ethyl mercaptan) do not work together.

  17. A great idea for a wine video, but I found it stressful viewing as you talk for so long without touching the food. It must be stone cold.

  18. I enjoyed Agnes. You forgot to try a dab of tartar sauce on a bite of fried fish…. But like you said the squirt of lemon worked great.

  19. My wife and I visited Chateau Moulin A Vent last year! How cool to see it featured there. It was a beautiful estate and we really enjoyed their wines. Brought several bottles back.
