One of the most stressful but exciting things of being a line cook is a menu change / addition. Come and enjoy our new beet with labneh dish and feta cheese plate at Tomat, LA 🙂

  1. I want to express how heartbreaking the current situation is. I deeply regret the video I posted at the golf course. At the time, I didn’t take proper accountability and held a naive belief that being neutral on a matter makes me neither right nor wrong. I've come to understand that ignorance is not an excuse.

Working in a restaurant and living in this city have taught me how much of what I get to enjoy and even the work I do is made possible by the people and communities around me.

I know this message may come across as vague, and I truly wish I could say more. But due to my current circumstances, there are limitations to what I can safely express on social media.

    Please be safe.

  2. Also a lone cook most stressful thing about it in my experience is how quickly things can get busy. Today we were supposed to have an easy day with only 20 covers and bad weather. Service started and people poured in so quickly that we didnt stop cooking until 3 hours later when service ended and we stipped taking orders. I dint ewven want to ask how many people we fed afterwards

  3. Keep yourself safe first so you can help others. I understand you’re in position that limits what you can express, but you are coming from a place of privilege, with love I hope off screen you are helping your community. ❤

  4. Something fun about my job is the public engagement I get to do as a security ambassador. Something stressful is dealing with homeless & gang members they are always armed or on some kind of drugs. I’ve already been threatened a few times 😅 luckily no harm has come my way

  5. Oooh in a similar way, I work for a software company, and we get very excited about software updates with new functionality, but at the same time, new functionality normally means a lot of users contacting us with “issues” where they are struggling to learn the new functionality, so we get very busy and it can be very stressful. I’m going through this rn and distracting myself by watching your videos

  6. I know it would be intrusive but I want to know where she works. The food always looks so delicious!!!!

  7. One fun thing about my job is being able to bond with the kids, and a stressful one is getting to know them. Im a SPED TA

  8. Do you get a photo reference for plating the new dishes? Or do you just have to remember what they are supposed to look like?

  9. I work in confectionery; specifically cookies and cakes. Being able to do multiple items with the same image and have them look the same is always the hardest part – that, or macaroons!

  10. Mine is right after I change the menu. On the first day, people order tons of plates of the new menus and give me the all the possible reviews. From the very best to the very worst. Then I loose my way sometimes.

  11. I work at a mailroom/print shop new equipment is the best and the worst. We finally get to retire the dinosaurs but it means learning how to use a new machine and all its quirks.

  12. I work as food technologist, formulating stuffs. The best part is tasting all the good food, but ngl it was stressful formulating things
