This is THAT very red tomato chutney that anna won’t give you twice. Hope you get the meme reference, if not check out my story!

This spicy and tangy red chutney goes so well with your dosas, you just can’t have enough of it. CAUTION: It’s addictive!

Ingredients I used:
For dry roast:
– 1 tbsp chana dal
– 1/2 tbsp urad dal
– 1/2 tsp jeera/ cumin seeds

For frying:
– 1/2 tbsp oil
– 4 to 5 dried red chillies
– 2 to 3 cloves of garlic
– 1 medium sized onion or little more than 1/2 cup onion, cubed
– 2 to 3 tomatoes, thrice the quantity of onion, cubed
– salt to taste
– 1/4 tsp turmeric

For tadka:
– 1 tbsp oil
– 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
– curry leaves

Procedure:
– Dry roast the lentils with jeera/cumin and set aside
– In little oil fry dried red chillies, garlic, onion and cook till it turns golden brown and the raw flavour has gone.
– Add tomatoes and let them cook thoroughly. Add turmeric and salt.
– Blend all the dry roasted lentils into a fine powder, add the fried mixture and water for consistency.
– Top it with mustard seeds and curry leaves tadka.
Enjoy with some dosas or idlis❤️
