Ingredients:
For the Pasta:
* 8oz elbow macaroni
* 1 tsp salt (for boiling water)
For the Cheese Sauce:
* 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
* 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
* 1 1/2 cups whole milk
* 1/2 cup heavy cream (optional, for extra richness)
* 1 tsp salt
* 1/2 tsp black pepper
* 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
* 1/2 tsp paprika (optional, for color and depth)
* 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
* 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or Gruyère for extra flavor)
* 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the macaroni until al dente, then drain and set aside.
2. In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and whisk for about 1 minute until it forms a paste.
3. Slowly whisk in the milk and heavy cream, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens (about 3–5 minutes).
4. Stir in salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Reduce heat to low and mix in the cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan until melted and smooth.
5. Add the cooked pasta to the cheese sauce and stir until evenly coated.
6. Serve immediately and enjoy!
