Make this dish once and you will make it over and over. Everything about it is good. It requires only one big pan, and that one will contain a complete supper of meat, potatoes, and vegetable for at least eight and likely a dozen people. Best of all, everybody loves every bit that comes out of the pan. Socca, as this is called in Valle d’Aosta, is exactly what the English recipe name says: a big casserole with layers of sliced beef, sliced potatoes, and shredded cabbage (all nicely seasoned). It bakes for several hours, until all the layers are fork-tender, then it’s covered with a final layer of fontina, which bakes into an irresistibly crusty cheese topping. Looks so awesome!

Thanks for the nice video
That cut of meat could easily cost $25 at the supermarket. Glad Lydia didnt use eggs. The rate for a dozen of eggs is pushing $10 a pop
🥰😎👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥰. 💋🤌🏻.
I found you recently. But something in your accent was so familiar, close. Not even your last name caught my attention, but the way you look and talk and cook. Actually something just clicked. Remembering my grandma, and all that ladies from that times, type of body, warm voice, tone of skin, and how sounds English talking by ex Yugoslavian people. And because drives by my curiosity i made search, and bam you have accordingly with inf on web roots from that lands. True
Lidia, I just love the dishes you make. I surely do miss your restaurant in Pittsburgh.
SWEET LIDIA🍓
Oh yes, I remember the electric food processor from the old country…
