In this On The Road Special Edition, Stevie Kim visits Barolo to meet Chiara Boschis, the legendary female winemaker and owner of Azienda Agricola E. Pira & Figli.
Chiara Boschis has selected three of the winery’s most representative wines for a special tasting with Stevie Kim during which they discuss the history, terroir and philosophy behind the organic winery.
The wines they taste are the elegant, smooth but powerful Cannubi 2020, the warm and beautifully fruity Mosconi, and the Via Nuova, an “assemblaggio” blend made by selecting different grape varieties to create a rich and harmonious wine.
Chiara explains the impact of climate, altitude, soil and winemaking decisions on these organic wines. She also outlines her ambition to create the first organic district in Cannubi by working in partnership with neighbouring wineries and convincing them of the benefits of a collective approach to biodiversity, as well as the significance of her evolving hairstyle as an up and coming female winemaker!
