In this On The Road Special Edition, Stevie Kim discovers the treasures of Campi Flegrei in the southern Italian region of Campania.

First up, Stevie meets Cristina Varcetta from the Cantine Astroni winery who introduces the Solfatara, the shallow volcanic crater at Pozzuoli, near Naples.

Next, Guilio Gamberdella from Campi Flegrei Active explains the significance of the Temple of Serapis (Macellum of Pozzuoli).

Stevie then visits the Rione Terra, the oldest part of the city of Pozzuoli and a symbol of “bradyseism” (the gradual uplift or descent of part of the Earth’s surface), now home to the city’s municipalities. Next, Stevie visits the Eremo dei Camaldoli with Francesco Romano. The monastery is the highest point in Napoli and offers some of the best and most evocative views of the region.

Stevie then speaks to Fabio Pagano, the Archaeological Site Director of Campi Flegrei, for an overview of the many archaeological treasures of the region, including the Submerged Archaeological Park of Baia.

Finally, Stevie speaks to Francesca Marzano, a guide at the Terme di Baia who introduces the principal ancient temples in the area.
