Baked Ziti
Ingredients
1 lb rigatoni, penne or ziti noodles
1 lb ground beef
1/2 onion, diced
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 teaspoons dried basil
2 teaspoons dried oregano
28 oz can crushed tomatoes
15 oz tomato sauce
12 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded (3 cups)
15 oz ricotta cheese
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°.
Cook pasta in salted water according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Season ricotta cheese with salt and pepper.
Heat oil in a pan over medium high heat and add ground beef. Season with salt and pepper and cook until cooked through, about 4 minutes. Drain excess liquid.
Add a little more oil to the pan along with onions and garlic and cook for 3 minutes.
Stir in dried basil and oregano.
Stir in crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce. Season generously with salt and pepper and bring to a boil. Lower heat to medium low and let simmer 5 minutes.
In a 9 x 13 baking dish layer in order
– Half of the noodles
– Half of the meat sauce
– Half of the mozzarella cheese
– Ricotta cheese
– Rest of the noodles
– Rest of the meat sauce
– Rest of the mozzarella cheese
Bake for 30 minutes.
let’s make baked ziti this is a family favorite recipe it’s kid approved and it’s almost like a lasagna and it’s so delicious first I’m going to Brown up some ground beef in a pan then I’m going to add some onions and garlic and cook them until they’re softened then I’m going to add some dried oregano dried basil some canned crushed tomatoes along with some canned tomato sauce and then I’m going to season it really well with salt and pepper and let it simmer for a few minutes here I have some ricotta cheese and I’m going to season it with some salt and pepper cuz ricotta can kind of be Bland and then in a baking dish I’m going to add some ratoni noodles you could also use ziti and I’m going to add half the meat mixture some mozzarella cheese and spread that ricotta cheese mixture over the top then I’m going to add the rest of the noodles the rest of the meat sauce and the rest of the shredded mozzarella cheese then I’ll bake it in the oven and when it’s done it looks like this it’s super Saucy meaty and cheesy just how I like it and I have to have some crushed red pepper flakes and let’s eat

Try uncooked ziti next time. The noodles will cook in the meat sauce. It will definitely change the flavor of the noodles
