This On The Road Special Edition with Stevie Kim is all about Barbera D’Asti and the Monferrato wine region in the southeast corner of Piedmont, in northwestern Italy.
First up, Stevie visits Ristorante Del Belbo Da Bardon where she samples its famous “bollito misto”.
Next, she sits down with Vitaliano Maccario, president of “Il Consorzio Barbera d’Asti e Vini del Monferrato”, to discuss the work of the consortium and the key characteristics of the Barbera D’Asti appellation.
Stevie also meets Emiliano Morando, export manager of Pico Maccario winery, and discovers the winery’s unique and unmistakable branding. Stevie also samples three of the cantina’s signature wines, Lavignone Barbera D’Asti DOCG, Tre Roveri Nizza DOCG and Epico Nizza DOCG Riserva.
Finally, Stevie goes behind the scenes at the Bersano family winery where she chats to owner Federica Massimelli, one of four sisters responsible for running this historic family winery. Stevie then sits down for a special tasting in the winery’s spectacular subterranean cellar.
