Today we are going to talk about Lugana Superiore produced in the incredible territory that develops along the south of Lake Garda, between two provinces (Brescia and Verona) and between two regions (Lombardy and Veneto); a truly magical territory delimited by the beautiful Brescian towns of Sirmione, Pozzolengo, Desenzano, Lonato and the Veronese town of Peschiera del Garda.
In order to be defined ‘Lugana Superiore’ on a label, a wine must undergo a period of aging or refinement of at least one year from the harvest.
It has a varied and complex profile: the color has golden reflections; the scents are articulated, offering hints of field grasses, chlorophyll, ripe apple, citrus (tangerine in primis), combined with notes of hazelnut or spices with the passage in the wood (today less and less new and toasted, and larger in capacity);
Lugana Superiore is a perfect match for even the most complex dishes, such as pike in sauce, grilled eel, but also grilled shellfish and some white meat dishes such as chicken, capon and rabbit.

and and that’s what what it is like uh
as i cracked up in this bottle i felt uh
immediately uh i saw immediately this
beautiful sailboat there’s uh they they
actually have some older sailboat there
on the lake just get on the boat
uh preschera delgada
sirmione
these are all
beautiful towns guys are so beautiful
like roman a roman fortress a roman
castle on a lake
how can you go wrong there is also port
solango that it’s a bit more inland but
right now let’s focus on the lake
so there’s some beautiful little boats
over there and sailboats you just get
going
and uh what you need is exactly this one
should you be drinking
a
lugana
on the lake
garda that’s gonna be one of the
greatest experiences you’re gonna have
this is a lugano superior by the way
which has to age for a minimum of one
year in the cellar so like the lugana
anata is producing release straight away
after a few months a minimum of a year
of aging what does it change well the
difference is going to be related to
more um
intense minerality
not necessarily the oak spices because a
lot of these wines still produce without
any oaks or very fresh refreshing like
with beautiful almonds almonds flowers
citrus fruit but also that kind of like
peat and gum flint element
some apple some tangerine
always
wonderful acidity and
a great creaminess just a touch of
creaminess
something that i would like to mention

here in the superior um right now i’m
perceiving
the
soil of lugana which is what used to be
an old glass here so like all the uh
ice on the mountain just melted down
bringing the
the the finer soil all the way down to
the bottom of the lake
so very fine soil sometimes with a
little bit of clay or a little bit of
sand so it depends where the grapes are
and then the turbiana variety is going
to change into more of an austere style
or into more generous style
the the great thing though is that these
wines have got also
an incredible aging potential
particularly the superior style
so
get on the sailboat and cheers with some
lugana superior
man i wouldn’t talk about this one if i
didn’t like it i always loved torpiana
always
