  2. My grandparents came to America from Sicily. However we always had ham or turkey for Christmas. Now I'm in my 60's and still doing the same but I should honor my original heritage. Thanks for all the great recipes! Hugs to you & your amazing familyโค

  6. Merry Christmas to you Vincenzo. I make a.special tomato sauce for Christmas Eve that has an anchovies, pignoli, green olives, etc. which has been in our family for generation.   8. Do you have recipes for the Christmas Eve feast of the Seven Fishes?

    We are not Italian, but Dad latched onto the concept 30 years ago. Most of what he made then was Asian, but the thought was there.

    I will be following Dad's inspiration for guests this weekend… I'd like to include one bona fide Italian dish.

    Lasagna has been a staple in our Christmas since I was a baby. Of course Nonna used to make it and now I make it. Like Nonna I would make everything the day before and keep it in the fridge overnight.

    My father used to always do a roast ham. When I host Christmas, I put the ham on the smoker so it's double smoked and glaze it there.

    Traditional in our house there is always a good antipasto platter, freshly cooked prawns and a salad of some sort . The dessert is usually a pav plus a trifle.

    So a blend of Italian and Australian.

  12. Perfect timing as I was going to ask you to comment on my menu for a party of six…i am planning to serve three mains…eggplant parmigiana , chicken cacciatore and of course a carbonara spaghetti….

    Of course served with a bold Italian Red!

    One of the guests is bringing a chucuterie board as an appetizer with meats,cheeses and olives , another bringing a dessert

  13. 7 kinds of fish on Christmas Eve including Pasta con le Sarde. Christmas day is antipasti all day with Aperol Spritz, Lasagna all Bolognese, Rib roast with salmoriglio, arugula salad with blood oranges, pomegranate and pistachios. For dessert, Italian cookies including cucidati, cannoli and of course plenty of wine and limoncello. Can you guess what region of Italy my family came from by the food?

  15. Your mother is a gem. Loved the enthusiasm for the eggplant lasagna! My personal feeling for the porchetta, the "crackling', there is nothing better. That taste, the satisfaction, pure indulgence. ๐ŸฅฐGreat video!!

  16. For vigilia it's Baccala Istria style. Similar to baccalร  mantecato Venetian. Baccala, potato, olive oil, garlic all mixed into a rough pate, look it up ๐Ÿ˜served with Pasutice pasta, or on a nice home made bread, baguette style. Along with a beautiful antipasto, including white anchovies. I'm soaking my baccala right now.

    Why I want 'Baked version' is, it is far more healtier than fried one. I want delicious baked cannoli. I already bought Cannoli tubes๐Ÿ˜Š
