A dessert that is made during Christmas everywhere in Greece. Melomakarona means honey macarons/cookies in English. In this video I present the recipe, showing the ingredients and the process on the 20th of December 2019 while situated in Italy. It is a relaxing video showing how I spent some days during December every year before the holiday season. Please find below the recipe. The secret of Melomakarona is in cooking. Careful monitoring during cooking, as they burn very easily. Know that you can, depending on the dose of syrup, make them more or less sweet.

Melomakarona Recipe
Ingredients:

(for 30-40 Melomakarona)

9 tea cups of flour
2 tea cups olive oil
1 tea cup cane sugar
1 coffee cup of cognac or ouzo or grappa
1 half cup of orange juice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1.5 teaspoons of baking powder
1 teaspoon of soda

For the Syrup:
1 tea cup of water
1 tsp honey
1 tsp cane sugar
1 cinnamon stick

For the topping: a few 10-15 grated walnuts

Bake at 180 degrees in the oven for 15 minutes.
