Recipe: I first crushed two pieces of garlic and peperoncino and sauteed it in olive oil. After that I put in clams, a cup of white wine, and cooked the clams for about five minutes. I boiled the pasta in salt water, and cooked the pasta in the clam juice with the clams. Added some parsley and grana padano for the finish.

Next time soak clams first in salt water (1/3 C salt to 1 gallon cold water) for 30 mins up to an hour. Remove and rinse. They will purge most if not all sand!

Yes you must purge hard shell clams. Ideally, with at least 2 or 3 water changes if you want to save your teeth. That said, you’ll never get ALL the sand out, no matter how clean they are…don’t bite too hard.
