Many don't understand the importance of not using dead mussels, clams, oysters, scallops. The reason is, you don't know how long it's been dead for. Shell fish are delicious but very delicate & bacteria begins almost immediately after it dies. Food poisoning from shell fish is deadly.

Christmas Eve we've always enjoyed seafood stew over couscous. Christmas Day is always ravioli or Lasagna with Bracole. Breaking tradition is risky, i know.
