Parts Unknown explores the Sicilian way of life, which puts a premium on savouring family, life, and food. Bourdain travels in search of those foods as he eats his way around the island. He makes his home base at the Villa Monaci, on the outskirts of Catania with his enthusiastic, fast-talking sidekicks who counter the otherwise relaxed tempo and epic “food porn” of this episode.

  1. The flinging of 'dead octopus ' into the water, A was snorkeling in; made me understand Sicily, people and place; are dead.

  2. Proof positive that some of the funniest and most entertaining people are in fact morbidly depressed. AB's black humour never fail to make me laugh.

  3. Hey guys have you heard Bourdain had depression? Only read it 350 times in this comment section..

  4. In the Philippines political candidates purposely throw trash in the ocean so they can film themselves "clean the ocean" while there are beaches that really need cleaning up.

  5. "Just sooth may shattered soul" Weird lines with lost of cynicism in this episodes.

  6. rest in peace to an absolute king of a human, you will be missed by many ♥

  7. We actually stayed at Monaci after first fewing this episode. It's nice, perhaps too nice – it's more a lux retreat, compared to say Mandranova which offered a farm/ 'agri' experience – the home cooked foods were excellent. Regarding the fake fishing, you can just about understand it – the guy probably felt under pressure to deliver when you know that nature is so unpredictable. I would perhaps put some blame on the producers for not briefing the guy properly.

  8. I once (1994) swam off the sea in Sicily most days. There was very little sea life. Local fisherman – in their tinny – would drag me to their nets to check. There was never anything in their nets but very small fish. It was so over fished and no real laws to stop the over fishing commercially or recreationally. I sailed across the Med and swam off Spain, Sardinia, Sicily, Malta, Greece, Turkey and Cyprus, so little in the sea, only saw dolphins once. Sad.

  9. HOW CAN SYCILIANS BE ARABS , EGYPTIANS , TURKS, NORTH ARFICANS ??????? WHEN THEY EAT PIGS AND SAUSAUGES FROM PIGS BLOOD . SYCILIANS ARE GREEKS

  10. "Lets put it this way, when my daughter asks me for a Pony, im bringing her here, pointing at that grill and saying 'theres ya f**ken pony'…" 😂😂😂
