Eating The World’s Most Dangerous Cheese: Casu Marzu (Rare, Tasty & w/ Maggots) | Sardinian Delicacy

What does Casu Marzu taste like? Is it safe to eat Casu Marzu? Can you eat the maggots in the cheese? How long can this cheese be kept for? Why is this the most dangerous cheese in the world?

In this video, we eat a rare delicacy that was named the World’s Most Dangerous Cheese. A rare Sardinian tradition passed down by generations, the cheese Casu Marzu translates to Rotten Cheese.

It was named The World’s Most Dangerous Cheese by a variety of different sources including the Guinness Book of World Records – is it the most dangerous cheese in the world? We don’t think it is!

We also examine what happen after keeping the Casu Marzu in storage for an extra 4 weeks after opening it (and give a further taste test!)

Is the cheese dangerous? Some experts still claim it carries big risks eating it and under European Law it’s not technically allowed to be sold (so finding it can be very challenging). The Guinness Book of World Records called it one of the World’s Most Dangerous Foods. You have to know someone to find it and even then it’s only around at certain times of the year. It’s ONLY found here in Sardinia (so don’t be fooled by people telling you they’ve had it in other countries!)

We talk about how Casu Marzu is made and how this rare cheese is eaten.

After eating some, we store it away for nearly a month before re-opening it, will it still be safe to eat after a month?

This is very different to meals out in Malaysia and feels very far from our food vlogs in Kuala Lumpur. It’s might just be tastier than Durian (sorry Malaysia!)
