
Lunch out. There’s a nice little hotel & restaurant just above Castiglione with a swimming pool. Mari wanted to ask when they opened the pool (already).
We only had a primo piatto : both what the hostess called macaroni & ragù, I’d have called it lasagne sheets. Homemade pasta – delicious, great texture. She said it was down to the flour they used (possibly local Duro). Gnam gnam.

Macaroni (maccheroni in Italian) is a generic term to refer to pasta, in some regions they use the term to refer to a specific pasta but it’s a bit hard to track it down with just this picture.
They could be some kind of pappardelle, I’m not sure, the important thing is that you liked them
They don’t quite look like macaronis but beside that they look very good
