The New York City Italian food scene is vast. There are loads of great eats, including both Italian American red sauce spots and authentic Italian restaurants in NYC. When it comes to the best Italian restaurant in NYC, many will say it’s the exclusive Rao’s or Carbone in the West Village that are the best Italian spots in New York. However, those are mostly based off reputation. That Rao’s is the most exclusive restaurant in NYC is part of the appeal, and Carbone lost its Michelin star last year which could also be showing that Carbone is overrated to many people. When basing off reviews, however, other restaurants come up as the best Italian joint in NYC, most notably I Sodi and L’Artusi.

As we were unable to get into Carbone, we decided to settle for not the highest clout restaurant in New York but the best rated Italian restaurant in NYC. L’Artusi has the most positive reviews out of any other Italian restaurant in town, with around 1,500 reviews and a 4.6 rating, a great accomplishment in a city as selective about food as New York! Join us as we try L’Artusi for the first time. Will it live up to the ratings or is it also overrated at this point? We will put the famous L’Artusi spaghetti, L’Artusi olive oil cake and the L’Artusi focaccia to the test!

  1. UA I am queer I just realized I am queer and coming out has lifted a great deal of my shoulders I'm gay I'm proud and nobody can keep me down or let me down.

  2. oh and I really like how u were talking with ur fork in pov mode, I'm from WV and Ramps not leeks r really popular here in the spring

  3. I've figured out the ratings of the food by looking at how much his eye closes after each bite

  4. Venture out to Corona Queens and give Park Side a try unbelievable Italian food and great prices
Go for lunch dinner is packed

  5. Great review ! And yes the olive cake is meant to be eaten with all of the components on the plate not one at a time then you critique . The focaccia bread looked amazing and the spaghetti dish so so. Now let's find an Italian restaurant what I call a traditional Parm restaurant . Meaning they have chicken and veal parmesan antipasto fried calamari and mussels chicken and veal scallopini marsala franchise Style and of course ricotta cheesecake the best now we're talkin . Oh and just plain old traditional Italian bread and butter.

  6. I question the Google reviews, seems like every restaurant is a minimum of 4 stars. I think Yelp has more critical reviews. If you see 4 stars or higher on Yelp its usually a winner.

  7. You have to love the simple perfection of a properly made pasta dish. This reminds me of Spaghetti alla Nerano, or Cacio e Pepe. Very few excellent ingredients, expedited perfectly. The dessert looked yummy, too. But I'll stick to my espresso and Sambuca 😉

  8. Lol nice ricochet shot for the dingy Chinese restaurant scene lol , that restaurant looks like a great place to dine in

  9. I don’t want to be racist, but: when you dive into a food that you enjoy, you remind me of my Eurasian son digging into a meal he likes. The joy of good eats!

  10. UA man, youre on your way to make this channel huge. Nice work man! Hope you do make it to Carbone some day!

  11. Just FYI, dry pasta (re hydrated when cooked) is considered optimal when cooking most authentic Italian pasta dishes like Carbonara or cacio e pepe, since you're unable to get that al dente chew with fresh made pasta. However there are still levels of quality when it comes to dry pasta. I cook a range of recipes from different cultures, including authentic Chinese cuisine, so I'm thinking you might assume that dry pasta in Chinese cuisine is considered cheaping out, which you'd be correct. But in authentic Italian cuisine, high quality dry pasta is the go-to for lots of (though not all) pasta dishes.

  12. Genuine Italian food made exceptionally well isn't hidden underneath a mountain of sauce, the pasta and fresh ingredients are the star and L'Artusi honoured that dish to perfection, it looked delicious, as did the dessert – very clever pairing of the olive cake with the creme fraiche and marmalade.

I can't be the only person to watch UA's videos to see him eat, his reaction to eating great food is priceless lol

  13. In some cases, store bought pasta is leagues above house made pasta owing to more superior drying techniques of the former.

  14. Not worth $27 for about a sauce, 4 cents worth of breadcrumbs and $.72 cents (and I'm being kind) in pasta. "it tastes excellent…..who cares…….TOTAL FREAKING RIPOFF!! CLASSIC scam for rich people. Your review was good though. DO NOT GO TO PLACES LIKE THIS FOLKS!! Save your money and make the same thing at home for about $1.50.

  15. That looked like great Italian. A little pricey for the amount of food but I guess that’s NYC. I love cooking pasta, and the garlic butter parmesan is one of my favorites.

  16. Interesting spaghetti dish for sure. Seems to require capers and a healthy dusting of parmigiano reggiano and black pepper. 25 year resident of NYC and fellow foodie. I find the price of this pasta too high by about $8 as well. It’s def dried pasta, possibly imported so good quality. As an amateur cook, it seems very basic and well executed but not generally what I look for when dining out. Thanks for sharing.

  17. Underrated channel but I think it’s so funny that when he eats something he likes he closes his eyes and looks distraught lol 7:05

  18. UA, Ramps are a wild member of the leek/ onion family. They are all wild foraged and an amazing seasonal delicacy!

  19. italian food has to be the most boring dull in the world, thats my opinion, its not popular, but its very popular with the older generation , they seem to have a strangle hold on the elderly .

  20. This man is just delightful! UA if you ever want to try some steak just outside of Philly, try Bardea Steak in Wilmington, Delaware. It is a bit of a trip from Philly and NYC for that matter, but it is very unique. A truly exciting experience, koji aging is the name of the game there, as well as, Italian dishes with a twist.

  21. UA, you are such a joy to watch and that server was just lovely!

  22. Go to Lilia in Williamsburg or via carota- both I think make a case for best Italian in the city!
