Ouch — this hits really close to home. My mother also contracted Alzheimers; her home and most of her belongings had to be sold in order to get her into an assisted living facility because she'd spent all her savings looking after her mother and my father, both of whom also had dementia (as did my paternal grandmother). At 70, with this family history and being disabled, I'm seriously considering radical options.
