Welcome to another episode of On The Road Edition hosted by Stevie Kim. This episode is a teaser of Stevie’s visit to the Ca’ Rugate winery in Verona, in a particular area in the heart of 3 DOC, Lessini Durello, Valpolicella and Soave. With Francesco Ganci, sales manager of Ca’ Rugate, Stevie visits the cellar where everything is handmade and where all of Ca’ Rugate’s flagship wines, Monte Alto Soave Classico, Amarone and the unique Studio wine, are aged. Then Francesco Ganci showed Stevie the ceramic barrel where the new wine called Bucciato aged, the sparkling wines such as Fulvio Beo and the special Corte Durlo, the Vin Santo of Brognoligo. Finally, Stevie caught up with Michele Tessari, owner of Ca’ Rugate, who showed her the Ca’ Rugate museum created from the original family home.

Ca’ Rugate is a winery with more than 100 years of history linked to the Tessari family for four generations and the Rugate hill near the centre of Bronoligo. Already at the beginning of the 20th century, Amedeo Tessari started producing his own wine, thus beginning the history of Ca’ Rugate. His son Fulvio and his grandson Amedeo produced the first bottles under the Ca’ Rugate brand name. In 2001 the fourth generation joined the company and a process of renewal began. Today Ca’ Rugate is a company rooted in the territory but with an international outlook, with 90 hectares of its own vineyards and a production that knows how to respect tradition and embrace innovation.
