Sangiovese is grown in almost every Italian winemaking region and is considered one of Italy’s greatest red grape varieties. Many different wines can be made from Sangiovese – from easy drinking to age-worthy red wines and even rose and white wines. And we all have heard such legendary names as Chianti Classico, Vino Nobile de Montepulciano and of course Brunello di Montalcino. In this video I will discuss how Sangiovese tastes like, where it is produced, its different styles, recommended food pairings and notable producers.

  1. A video after my own heart… Sangiovese is possibly my favorite red wine grape. It made me fall in love with wine and my palate has never waivered… 🎉

  2. We were having dinner at Trattoria Zaza and ordered a bottle of Tignanello without knowing anything about it Until later when the waitress told us it’s a really good bottle and we shouldn’t ask to chill it … I just like my red wine slightly chilled lol

  3. Love a beautiful, acidic Sangiovese based wine. You can pay a lot and get a superior Brunello or Supertuscan, but I love paying a reasonable amount and getting a superior Chianti Classico. Such a great value to quality wine.

  4. Sangiovese: Italy's Touriga Nacional or Tempranillo (whether you're in Portugal or Spain) 😉

PS Actually Tempranillo also takes vast acreage in Portugal under the name Tinta Roriz (in the Douro) and Aragonez (in Alentejo)

  5. Maybe one day you could talk of the rise of Cali's Sangionese. The Californian climate is far more similar to Tuscany than it is to Bordeaux so Italian grape varieties make sense. Italian grapes flourish in warm, dry, heat and they are more likely to produce outstanding fruit over there.

  6. The grape that got me into wine. And this is the first video where I’ve had all the Chianti and Brunello producers and almost all the other recommended producers. I do prefer my Chianti 100% Sangiovese. Pretty much love anything from 2016 that I’ve tried.

  7. Always love your videos. Short and packed full of info. Since I like Chianti wines. I therefore like Sangiovese wines. I may want to branch out more in other styles and producers. I need to pay a visit to my local Total Wine and More store!! Thanks Agnes!

  8. Be carefull with your dog. It was awfully close to you vineglass😅. I love sangivese. Chianti clasico and brumello can be awesome.

  9. Excellent video Agnese 🤯 So much to know, so little time to enjoy… 🤨😜 Thanks for your knowledge packed video to turbo charge my knowledge… 😁 Did some quick research and it seems IL Bastardo Sangiovese Di Toscana is a brand available to me in Arizona at very affordable price. Have you tried, or heard about quality reputation..? It has pretty good customer reviews… 👍🤔
Time to stock wine rack even with non-aging wine as inflation continues.. , with wines being hit like everything else… 😔🙂 Cheers 🍷 🥂

  10. Great vid. Brunello is my favorite; however, I have yet to try a chianti I really liked. They all taste very sour to me. 🤷🏼‍♂️
