Sometimes it’s nice fun to get dressed up and have a night on the town. Whether for a special occasion, or just for fun, these are my top picks for places to get a fantastic meal in Northville when you’re feeling a bit fancy.

#1 160 Main

If you’re looking for exceptional Italian food & service, look no further than 160 Main in downtown Northville. With four dining areas, including the patio, there are plenty of seating options, but reservations are highly recommended. With a menu full of seasonal items handpicked by the chef, each option offered is designed to reflect a traditional Italian meal. Favorites here are the Scottish Salmon, Sicilian Ravioli, and Chargrilled Quail. Give the Tuscan Artichokes a try for your appetizer and be sure to save room for dessert, as 160 Main has some of the best Gelato in Metro Detroit. There’s also a full bar for your cocktail needs and a rotating wine list. As a pro tip, they offer a wine locker service allowing you to store your favorite vintage. Lastly, ask about the secret menu! You won’t find these options on the main menu, but they typically have a couple of fun, off menu items available to try.

#2 Table 5

Table 5 is a go-to for many Northvillians and a mainstay for fine dining restaurants in the area. While the restaurant itself is on the small side, they do accept reservations along with a bar which is first come first serve, and additional seating on the patio. As nice as sitting outside is, the ambiance inside is truly wonderful as well, making it a great place for anniversaries and other special occasions. The menu here packs a mighty punch with some fantastic options including Roasted Artichokes or Lussier Style Mussels for appetizers, followed by the Pan Roasted Salmon, Amish Chicken or the Grilled Duck Breast as an entree. They of course have a full bar as well with a selection of craft drinks, beer and wine. Whatever you do, you MUST try the Gooey St. Louis Buttercake before you leave. It is absolutely to die for.

#3 Rocky’s of Northville

Rocky’s on 7 Mile is another one of Nortville’s mainstays for fine dining. Owner Charles Rachwitz worked for the C.A. Muer Restaurant Corporation for 18 years as Corporate Executive Chef. Before Chuck Muer’s tragic disappearance at sea, he returned the favor by helping Rachwitz turn the former Northville Charley’s into Rocky’s, which opened its doors in 1992, quickly establishing itself as the local go-to steak house. The warm, Northern Michigan lodge feel of Rocky’s creates a wonderful and relaxed ambiance. Open for both lunch and dinner with daily specials, you’re sure to find plenty of delicious options to choose from. Steaks are definitely a failsafe choice, but don’t count out the Fried Brussel Sprouts appetizer, or the seafood & pasta main courses. They’re all phenomenal.

#4 Genitti’s Hole-in-the-Wall

Closing out the list is Genitti’s Hole-in-the-Wall. Originally opened in 1971 as a grocery store, John & Toni Genetti literally knocked a hole in the wall to the market side, creating Ginetti’s Hole-in-the-Wall restaurant. In 1981 the business expanded to the building next door, before expanding again to the downstairs in 1985. In 1992 Ginetti’s Little theater was created when another expansion took place, providing entry through yet another hole in the wall. Ginetti’s also has a few different rooms available for rent with seating ranging from 36 up to 120 people. The magic of Ginetti’s is the dinner theater with a fixed seven course family style Italian meal, and the food is outstanding. Soups, pastas, salad, meat courses, dessert – it’s all amazing! There are also special events that take place here, so dining here is truly an experience that requires going more than just once for the full effect!
