4 Slices Chocolate French Toast
Italian Hot Chocolate along with Hot Chocolate French Toast is an ultimate dessert or even ‘dessert for breakfast’ for those chocolate lovers! It is easy to make with just a few ingredients from your pantry, and yet so delicious and decadent, that you would keep wanting more of it.
Italian Hot Chocolate is a creamy and luxuriously-rich chocolate drink with a pudding-like consistency. The decadent Italian version can be made in just 10 minutes with six simple ingredients. Use good quality dark chocolate and add freshly-brewed espresso to accentuate the chocolatey flavour and aroma. Also, use thick slices of any bread that you prefer for soft, fluffy and rich chocolate french toast with crispy edges. The centre is filled and stuffed with nutella, marshmallows and hot chocolate ganache, that would just make you drool. Top with your favourite toppings such as hot chocolate, marshmallows, berries, bananas or whipped cream. Serve the dessert with the incredibly comforting, smooth, creamy and thick Italian Hot Chocolate!
Ingredients:
Italian Hot Chocolate Ingredients:
Milk – 330ml + 30ml
Sugar – 3 Tbsp
Cocoa Powder – 2 Tbsp
Corn Starch – 1 Tbsp
Dark Chocolate – 100 Grams
Coffee Mixture:
Water – 10ml
Coffee Powder – 1/8 Tsp
Process:
1. In a saucepan, add milk, sugar and cocoa powder, and whisk.
2. Heat the pan of mixture over low-heat, whisking consistently to prevent lumps.
3. Bring the hot chocolate mixture to a simmer.
4. Meanwhile, dissolve a Tbsp of corn starch in 30ml of milk, and stir till well-incorporated.
5. Add the corn starch-milk mixture when the hot chocolate milk mixture is about to boil.
6. Stir the mixture continuously till a slightly thick and creamy consistency, and remove from heat.
7. Add chopped dark chocolate chunks or chips to the mixture, folding in and stirring till the chocolate melts completely.
8. Prepare coffee mixture by mixing 10ml of hot water and 1/8 Tsp of coffee Powder.
9. Add the brewed coffee to the hot chocolate, which helps to further acentuates the chocolatey flavour.
10. Mix well till the hot chocolate becomes furthermore creamier and thicker. Italian hot chocolate is ready!
11. Pour into a cup and keep the remaining for the chocolate french toast. You may even serve the hot chocolate topped with whipped cream or marshmallows.
Chocolate French Toast Ingredients:
Eggs – 2, Large
Sugar – 4 Tbsp
Milk – 4 Tbsp
Vanilla Extract – 1 Tsp
Cocoa Powder – 1/2 Tsp
Salt – A Pinch
Bread – 4 Slices
Nutella/ Melted Chocolate – 4 Tbsp (1 Tbsp per Slice)
Marshmallows
Butter – 1 – 2 Tbsp (For Toasting)
Cinnamon Sugar – For Dusting
Cocoa Powder – For Dusting
Process:
1. In a shallow wide dish, crack the eggs and beat along with sugar till the sugar dissolves.
2. Add milk, vanilla extract, cocoa powder and a pinch of salt, and whisk till well-combined. Keep this aside.
3. Take 4 slices of bread and spread a layer of nutella or melted chocolate on one side of each slice.
4. Top 2 of the slices of bread with marshmallows and pour some hot chocolate over them. Top them with the remaining 2 slices of nutella-slathered bread slices, and sandwich them together to make 2 sandwiches.
4. Heat a pan over medium heat and melt some butter or add vegetable oil.
5. Dip a chocolate french toast sandwich, one at a time, in the egg mixture. Soak them well on both sides. Place on the pan.
6. Toast the sandwiches for 2 – 3 minutes each side till golden brown, carefully flipping over to the other side.
7. Meanwhile, make cinnamon-sugar by combining some powdered sugar and ground cinnamon in a bowl.
8. Transfer the toasts to a serving plate and cut them into half (the melted chocolate and marshmallows ooze out). Dust the Hot Chocolate French Toast with the cinnamon-sugar and cocoa powder. Serve warm with some hot chocolate drizzled over the toast, and topped with roasted marshmallows. Devour and Enjoy!
