Toot, toot! Hop in and let’s go on a drive around Rimini in Italy for a tasty food tour.
But we can’t do this in just any vehicle, oh no! We need an ape car. This three-wheeled vehicle, first produced by Piaggio after the Second World War, is having its moment in the sun once more especially in our “pop-up” culture. And in Rimini, they’re used for pop-up Italian food tours of the city.
In an ape car tour of Rimini, we sampled the Emilia Romagna delicacy of piadinas.
Setting off from the Bridge of Tiberius in the glorious warmth of the late summer day. Our guide Yuri Guidi, took us to five different restaurants that served a variety of the renowned flatbreads, filled with a wide range of tasty local salami, salume, cheese and other fillings.
But eating all that tasty food is just one of many cool things to do in Rimini.
I also enjoyed a quick trip to look at the nine miles of fabulous Rimini beaches and its lively harbour. I also went to the Galli Theatre, unearthed Roman history at an excavation in Piazza Ferrari, explored the films of Italian director Frederico Fellini, the Fulgor Cinema.
