Mum and I did a pizza and gelato cooking class with Walkabout Tours in Florence. After meeting the professional chef we were transported directly to the beautiful private estate in the hills just above Florence where you started to live the full Italian experience.
On arrival we appreciated the stunning views over the gorgeous countryside as we tasted the traditional ‘fettunta’ whilst listening to the culture behind Italy’s most famous food, pizza and gelato.
The professional chef taught us the art of dough making and kneading and gave us all the insider tips in order to easily produce the same result back home.
Next it was time to get creative as we used the ingredients picked from the vegetable garden and choose from the many traditional toppings the Italians love. The pizza was cooked in the wood-fired oven to give it the traditional flavor.
The fun continued as we then learnt the special techniques to make our very own gelato. we chose hazelnut! We made creamy gelato with unique toppings/sauces.
