The Aperol spritz cocktail! A drink built with Aperol, prosecco, and soda water!
Aperol Spritz Cocktail History
This drink is a well-known Italian tradition that is easy to replicate anywhere. Walkthrough an Italian town during the late afternoon–particularly in Northern cities and you’ll find groups of people enjoying Aperol Spritzes.
Aperol’s origin can be traced back to Padua in Italy. 1919 saw the creation of the aperitivo, which is a great starter drink that can be drunk before dinner. The bittersweet taste and fantastic aromatics are what make it a great choice for pre-dinner sipping.
More Info!
Pair Aperol and bubbly wine or sparkling water for a refreshing, thirst-quenching drink. Aperol is low in alcohol so you can drink it early and still get to dinner with respect.
Although Aperol Spritz is a classic Italian drink, it was not popular in America until the 2010s when Americans became more familiar with aperitivos. Today, it’s a popular choice at cocktail bars, Italian, and non-Italian restaurants. You can find it almost anywhere that offers brunch on dinner.
Aperol Spritz makes a great choice for a home cocktail hour, as it’s easy to make and drink. All you need to do is combine the ingredients in a glass with ice. No stirring, shaking, or other fancy flourishes are necessary. The drink’s complex flavor and beautiful coral hue will be apparent once it is done.
Although sparkling wine can be mixed with soda and Aperol, a true Aperol Spitz requires Italian bubbly. There are many types of Proseccos, from sweet to dry. Make sure you choose the one that suits your taste. Even though you might not be in Italy right now, a good cocktail can help you channel Italy’s long-standing tradition.
